It's hopper time here in Northern Michigan!
What a great time of year it is here in Northern Michigan to be fishing! These past couple weeks have been pretty spectacular. We’ve had a bit cooler temps, and the fishing has really picked up. With so many different fishing options right now, it’s hard to choose what to do. These past couple weeks, we have been out chasing everything from Smallmouth bass on poppers, trout on small tricos, big browns on a mouse pattern, hopper fishing during the afternoon, and even Musky on the fly!
Matthew and his mom came out last week for a float and found some nice Brookies rising to BWO's and Tricos. Way to go Matthew!
Jim worked hard on a sunny day to find this beautiful brown trout on a hopper pattern.
Gotta love it when the Smallmouth are crushing poppers on the surface!
Earlier this week, I had the chance to get out and scout out the musky fishing for some up coming guide trips. Needless to say, we had some great action, with plenty of musky following and had a good handful eat the fly. If you're looking to get out for the musky, give me a shout. I have limited days open through the end of August and September.
Salmon are starting to enter the streams as well and reports have it that they have been bigger than average this year. Even heard of a 41 pounder being caught. I also have a few dates open for salmon this season.
With all the different fishing opportunities going on right now, its hard to choose which one to pick, so spin the wheel and choose your adventure. It's a great time to be in Northern Michigan right now!
